REPORTS TO: CEO
SALARY RANGE: $70K-$80K depending on qualifications and experience plus benefits.
Job Responsibilities
Fundraising (60%) Execute strategies designed to sustain and grow charitable support for 1951 Coffee
Company, currently at the $150,000 level annually.
1. Develop and execute on an annual campaign to generate support from individual donors.
a. Create and execute a schedule of targeted (primarily email) appeals to current and lapsed donors.
b. Execute a donor acquisition strategy drawing on 1951 Coffee Company’s customers and other members of its broader community.
c. Convey timely and high-quality gift acknowledgement.
d. Update donor information in Salesforce and generate regular progress reports.
2. Manage the strategic growth of 1951 Coffee Company’s major gift portfolio.
a. In partnership with the CEO and Board Development Committee, develop plans for communicating and building relationships with a portfolio of 35 major gift prospects.
b. Set up and manage follow up for meetings and other support for CEO’s relationship building and solicitation of major gifts.
c. Update donor engagement notes and tracking in Salesforce, and generate reports as requested.
3. Plan and execute donor cultivation activities, including Community Dinners and Cafe visits.
Partnership Engagement (20%) Collaborate with managers to help initiate and sustain relationships with organizations that are or can be engaged in 1951 Coffee Company, i.e., “entity partnerships”.
1. Coordinate and track incoming expressions of interest and partnership opportunities.
2. Collaborate with program managers to establish regular and special communications with current and prospective entity partners. Maintain regular communication with primary contacts to keep 1951 Coffee Company on their radar.
3. Attend selected meetings, representing 1951 Coffee Company to generate interest in programs and activities.
Community Education and Awareness (10%) Inspire customers and the broader public to learn more about and embrace the 1951 Coffee Company mission and to engage more actively and in an ongoing way.
1. Contribute to 1951 Coffee Company’s social media presence by generating regular posts as requested by CEO (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.)
2. Collaborate with Training Program and Cafe Program Managers on campaigns and special events that raise community awareness of 1951 Coffee Company’s mission, activities, and impact, e.g., leveraging the cafe space and other physical community activities/touchpoints (e.g., open houses)
Operations (10%) Responsible for keeping the database up to date and generating reports and queries as needed.
1. Monitor and report using Salesforce Donor Management System. Track the progress and impact of donations and partnerships, providing regular reports to CEO, committee(s), board, and stakeholders.
2. Ensure that all donations, donor engagement activities and meeting notes are entered into Salesforce Donor Management System.
3. Ensure accuracy of all information, including updating emails, addresses, phone numbers, primary contacts for entity partners.

2. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Should be able to adapt communication style to engage different audiences.
3. Proactive and “go for it” approach to day-to-day work.
4. Passionate about the cause of welcoming and promoting the well-being of refugees and asylees in the U.S.
5. Comfortable with and demonstrates the ability to do work that is relationally connected, and challenge focused – building “eye-to-eye” donor relationships that center caring for others, building a more generous culture and doing something outside of one’s comfort zone to make a difference.
6. Comfortable working collaboratively within a small, growing team made up of staff, Board members and volunteers.
7. Detail-oriented and zealous about data integrity.
8. Able to manage multiple projects concurrently and suggest creative solutions.
9. Working knowledge and facility with Salesforce, Microsoft Office, other basic office software.
Experience
1. Lived experience or prior professional experience working with and in the refugee and asylee community preferred.
2. 2-3 years experience working in fundraising, development or sales and marketing.
