The Development Associate is an integral member of the KQED Leadership Gifts team that raises contributions from individuals making philanthropic gifts of $5,000 and above. The Development Associate is responsible for providing administrative support to the major gifts program. Under the direction and supervision of the Associate Director, Leadership Gifts, responsibilities include: aiding KQED’s individual major gifts efforts through the production of solicitation letters, assisting with donor inquiries and communications, Board Committee and donor meeting support, and providing fundraising support to the Leadership Gifts team. This is a hybrid position.

Salary Range: $23.75/hr. - $29.70/hr.
Essential Functions:
1. Fundraising and donor communications support: Responsible for assisting with mailings (i.e. merges and prints letters, stuffs and addresses envelopes, generates labels, etc.), with a special focus on the production of monthly renewal letters and other regular solicitation mailings; Assist with and occasionally write appeals to donors; Draft, edit and review gift acknowledgements to send to donors; Create proposals for donors who request more detailed information on a given topic; Create and update reports for donors and family foundations; Draft and develop print and electronic materials as needed and proofread written materials for major gift officers; Assist with the preparation of spreadsheets and workbooks for projects requiring mail merge; Help create and distribute tax letters and other important donor information; Help maintain accurate donor information and donation history in the Revolution CRM donor database. 2. Donor relations support: Assist Associate Director, Leadership Gifts, with donor inquiries by phone or email and provide key support to major donors, including sustainers in the major gifts program. Donor relations support duties include but are not limited to: sending acknowledgements, member cards or tax letters; providing customer service support for Passport, the donor portal, events, pledge-free stream; answering questions about membership.
Additional donor relations responsibilities include: Checking major gift inboxes and voicemails, forwarding messages as necessary to the appropriate major gifts officer or department and setting up out-of-office responses as needed; Ordering premiums for major donors; Mailing On KQED magazines as requested; Providing backup gift processing and acknowledgement support during high volume periods; Assisting with donor tours and events; Occasional travel to off-site donor events. 3. Leadership Gifts general administrative and office support: Performs administrative and general office duties such as ordering office supplies, tracking usage of stationery and donor collateral and maintaining inventory of premiums for the Leadership Gifts team; other related tasks as assigned. (15%)
4. Meeting support: Provides support for and coordinates aspects of all on-site meetings for the Leadership Gifts team and Development-managed Board-level meetings such as the Development Steering Committee and Major Gifts Committee including the creation and collation of meeting materials (PowerPoint presentations, printed documents, etc.). Executes the organization, planning, preparation and clean-up of the meeting space, TV, computer, table, food and beverages, takes meeting minutes as needed. (10%)
5. Performs other essential duties as assigned. (5%)
Skills and Knowledge:
1. Minimum of two years’ experience in office administrative support and/or Development, preferably in the annual fund or major gifts area.
2. Strong organizational, project management and time management skills.
3. Highly detail-oriented and eager to learn about major gifts fundraising and Development.
4. Knowledge of various computer systems and software including word processing, mail merge and spreadsheet functions. Microsoft Office and Google Suite knowledge is required.
5. Comfort working with and manipulating Excel spreadsheets.
6. Experience with donor databases and/or customer relationship management (CRM) platforms.
7. Ability to work well on multiple, simultaneous projects under pressure with overlapping timelines. Successful track record of meeting deadlines.
8. Comfort and proficiency shifting between working independently and in collaboration with other people/teams.
9. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels, donors, volunteers, as well as the public.
10. Bachelor's degree or equivalent educational training preferred.
