Responsibilities:
Institutional Fundraising (45%)
Manage the grant calendar, including all proposals and reporting deadlines. Track grant opportunities to ensure timelines, plans, and pipelines are up to date and meet compliance requirements of funding organization
Draft funding proposals and reports and manage the process for review and approval and ensure timely and accurate completion and submission
Conduct prospect research and support the Development Director in growing a portfolio of prospective and active foundation and government funders in support of general operating and programs
Collaborate with the Development Director and Executive Director to cultivate potential funders, including producing funder and meeting briefs, drafting outreach communications, and preparing for meetings and site visits
Collaborate with teams across the organization, such as program, finance, and compliance, to collect and provide information, communicate deadlines, and work collaboratively on grant proposals and reports
Grassroots Fundraising (35%)
Lead the development of grassroots fundraising campaigns and donor organizing program with support from Development Coordinator and manage the implementation of fundraising plans to accomplish fundraising goals and objectives
Coordinate the Board Fundraising Committee which includes developing systems and tools to facilitate and engage Board Members in fundraising activities
Coordinate with other teams (Communications and Program) to develop and align external messaging
In partnership with the Development Coordinator, regularly coordinate and facilitate grassroots fundraising trainings with staff, board and volunteers to foster a shared fundraising culture across the organization
With support from Development Coordinator, conduct monthly and quarterly donor analysis and fundraising reports
Supervision & Team Development (10%)
Supervise the Development Coordinator, including coaching, mentoring, and training
Support the development of team culture and practices
Support the development of CPA’s fundraising culture
Supervise project staff and volunteers as needed on cross-team or organizational-wide projects
Systems (5%)
Oversee Development Coordinator to maintain and troubleshoot fundraising information management systems to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of fundraising data (Asana, Airtable, and Powerbase)
Organizational Support (5%)
Support and participate in CPA campaigns, programs and organization-wide activities as needed
Qualifications:
Required:
At least 2-3 years of experience with foundation fundraising, grants management, and/or grassroots fundraising
At least 1-2 years experience supervising staff or volunteers
A commitment to social, economic and environmental justice, bottom-up social change and building social movements
A deep belief in the power of grassroots fundraising as an essential strategy for social change
Strong writing and editing skills, and ability to communicate CPA’s work and mission to diverse audiences
Ability to manage and design organizational systems needed to track and manage files, deadlines, and relationships
Ability to facilitate internal and external processes and support others in understanding the roles and impact of resource development and mobilization
Ability to interface with a diverse set of stakeholders including funders, individual donors, and grassroots community members
Strong proficiency in database, desktop publishing and website content management programs. Familiarity with CRM, Google Workspace and Project Management Tools ( Asana)
Employment Terms: Full-time, non-exempt. Effective start date is August 14, 2023
Expected Hours of Work: 40 hrs/week
Work Environment / Physical Demands:
This position will work out of CPA’s office in San Francisco.
Able to work on a computer, including sitting at a desk, for extended periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation.
Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard.
Able to see or read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids
Able to speak clearly and in audible tones on the phone and in-person and be understood by others.
Able to hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone.
Able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Able to occasionally lift objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
Travel: may require travel between SF office and East Bay meeting locations.
Salary and Benefits: Estimated annual salary earnings $65,000-$75,000 depending on experience. We offer a competitive health benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, and a generous paid time off schedule.
