ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manage and achieve annual individual fundraising goal of $1M in gifts and pledges.
  • Work closely with the Dugoni School’s Dean, Associate Dean for Development, academic and volunteer leaders, as well as fundraising colleagues across University of the Pacific three-city university campuses to design and implement creative and comprehensive cultivation, and solicitation strategies for an assigned portfolio of major and principal gift prospects ($50k+).
  • Manage and qualify a portfolio of up to 150 prospects focused on identifying, qualifying, cultivating, and soliciting gifts in alignment with Dugoni School’s fundraising priorities.
  • Conduct 25 monthly meaningful interactions; make at least 5 solicitations each month, along with developing philanthropic and stewardship strategies for all prospects and donors in the portfolio.
  • Manage Dugoni School Foundation Board Members as assigned by the Associate Dean for Development and partner with them and others to cultivate and solicit gifts.
  • Ensure maximum private support through strong leadership, ensuring adherence to performance measures, and integrating a philosophy of collaboration and performance throughout the development team.
  • Create a positive environment within the Dugoni School’s humanistic model that will expedite the efforts and maximize the impact of processes undertaken by development team members.
  • Lead or participate in Dugoni School events affiliated with fundraising as directed by the Associate Dean for Development.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean for Development.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:

  • Microsoft Word, Excel, database systems, and e-mail systems.
  • BANNER (or related fundraising database software).
  • Working knowledge of planned gifts.

Experience:

  • Minimum of three years of increasing responsibilities in a professional fundraising position.
  • Previous experience with raising gifts of $5K-25K and above.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Working Conditions:

  • Position is full-time, eight hours per day, five days per week.
  • Must be available for evening and weekend hours as needed.
  • Position requires occasional travel to off-site locations.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to:

  • Outstanding verbal communication skills; excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to write concept papers, proposals and grants.
  • Solid negotiation, public relations and strategic planning skills.
  • Excellent organization, presentation and event management skills.
  • Develop and monitor budgets and schedules.
  • Work effectively with diverse constituencies.
  • Ensure precise attentiveness to detail in all work activities.
  • Manage and provide leadership to volunteer workers.
  • Manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Work independently as well as part of a team.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated track record of 2+ years cultivating and soliciting major gifts, preferably in a higher education or professional school setting.
  • Previous experience in a higher education environment is desirable.

Other:

  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work performed is primarily general office/administrative with frequent use of computer keyboard, mouse, and phone.
  • Requires sitting majority of the working day; occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
  • Occasional lifting up to 15 pounds.

 

Hiring range: $78,060 - $107,333 per year. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
