MAJOR GIFTS OFFICER
Advancement
UC Law SF (formerly UC Hastings) was founded in 1878 as the law department of the University of California and was the first law school in California. Over the years, it has built a legacy and reputation of being a preeminent institution comprised of renowned faculty committed to the study of legal theory and research, preparing students for careers in the judicial system, public service, and industry.
The College is redefining legal education through an experiential, interdisciplinary, and international approach to the law. By integrating rigorous academics with hands-on practice, the College is preparing its graduates to tackle modern legal challenges.
THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Major Gift Officer (MGO) is a critical member of the Office of Advancement at UC Law San Francisco. The MGO secures philanthropic gifts from alumni and friends of the College to advance its work, which is accomplished through strategic, thoughtful, and timely communications and engagements, as well as extensive relationship building.

- Develop and strengthen relationships between donors and the law school through one-on-one meetings, events, and strategic engagement initiatives. The MGO’s success will be measured by solicitations made and funds raised in addition to personal visits and meaningful contacts.
- Partner and collaborate with members of the Advancement team, the Chancellor and Dean, Assistant Chancellor & Dean/Chief of Staff, faculty, and other internal members of the UC Law SF community to remain current on and share key College initiatives and updates with donors, advancing solicitation and stewardship strategies.

- Memorialize and document all communications and interactions with donors by entering timely contact reports into the Raiser’s Edge NXT donor database.
