Position Summary
This is an exceptional opportunity for an individual who is passionate about the PRO Youth and Families mission and who has a track record of success in identifying and consistently growing genuine relationships with funders (individuals, corporations, and foundations) and stewarding those relationships toward higher levels of giving. Under the direction of the President/CEO, the Stewardship & Donor Relations Director is principally responsible for managing relationships with existing funders and building relationships with potential new funders. The Director will also collaborate with internal departments to ensure all necessary follow-up, cultivation, and stewardship activities are implemented and documented in a timely and effective manner. In addition, the Director will work with the communications team to optimize sharing PRO’s work, success stories, and impact across all channels so that messaging inspires further contributions. In partnership with the CEO, the Director plays a critical role in providing strategic leadership for PRO’s stewardship and relationship building, particularly toward aspirational fundraising goals that will allow PRO to significantly grow youth mental wellness programs nationwide.
This is a hybrid work model with 3 days in the office in Sacramento. This position requires a 32-40 hour work week between the hours of 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM.
Key Responsibilities
Stewardship and Relationship Development
- Works closely with the CEO, Leadership Team, and Board to create and implement a comprehensive fund development strategy.
- In partnership with the CEO, Board, and senior leadership, fosters and nurtures relationships with the organization’s funders (individuals, corporations, and foundations) through intentional cultivation and stewardship efforts, including timely and accurate documentation of interactions in Salesforce.
- Partners with CEO, Leadership Team, and Board to deepen existing funder relationships and engage and cultivate new supporters.
- Manages funder visit follow-up, including tracking next steps, scheduling touchpoint meetings, coordinating activities with internal departments, and directly following up with funder as needed to continue to cultivate and steward the relationship.
- Develops, Coordinates, and attends point-of-entry events, friendraising events, meetings, and other fundraising and networking events to identify and cultivate relationships that support the PRO mission.
- Serves as an ambassador and spokesperson for the organization and articulates PRO’s mission to external constituents, partner organizations, and potential funders.
- Identifies, tracks, and supports new revenue streams and innovative fundraising methods.
- Coordinates closely with the communications team to ensure PROs brand and leadership are promoted to the general public, supporters, and prospective funders.
Board and Senior Staff Leadership
- Develops a working knowledge of PRO, its strategic initiatives, and funding priorities.
- Serves as a member of the Leadership Team.
- Attends board meetings and board committee meetings and reports on development activities as needed in coordination with the CEO.
- Works with the CEO to ensure board members are engaged and energized by their association with the organization and provides information as needed to board members on donor cultivation and fundraising techniques.
- Collaborates with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to develop and produce regular analytic reports for the CEO and the Board that synthesize the financial progress and trends of fundraising activities.
- Contributes to a healthy organizational culture.
Supervision
- Supervises one, part-time to full-time philanthropy manager.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic leader who is committed to the mission and work of PRO Youth and Families. In addition, they will possess the following experience, skills and personal attributes:
- A passion for youth development and youth mental wellness.
- Demonstrated leadership in the nonprofit sector with a track record of high level performance at a mid to senior level.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to demonstrate tact and confidentiality.
- Understanding and respect for the confidential nature of donor information.
- Minimum 5 years of related experience, preferably in a nonprofit development department.
- Knowledge of fundraising management software, Salesforce experience is a plus.
- Able to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
- Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to communicate plans, gain buy in, and gain support.
- Thorough knowledge of general office software, particularly Microsoft Office Suite.
- Complete and pass a background screening.
- Driving is a requirement of the position, and as such possession of a Valid California Driver’s license and evidence of insurance coverage is necessary.
- Capable of providing Employment Eligibility Verification.
Compensation & Benefits
The salary range is $95,000 - $115,000. Benefits include medical, dental and vision plus generous PTO accrual and 10 paid holidays.
